    Visual Source Safe Integration doesn't work.

    I have version 1.0.0.1 of GeminiVSS.dll.

    I'm using Visual Source Safe 2005.

    I'm taking the following steps:

    Run regsvr32 geminivss.dll - it tells me that the dll has registered successfully.

    Double-click GeminiVSS.reg - it tells me that the information has been successfully added.

    Placed the ssaddin.ini file in C:\Program Files\Microsoft Visual SourceSafe (and I've stuck it in a number of other directories too, but got nothing)

    I get no errors at any point. The source files do not show up with the Gemini item after I check them into VSS.  I'm doing everything correctly and I'm familiar with the process because it worked on an older pc that I just stopped using.  It still works on some older machines here, but none of the newer ones.

    Contents of GeminiVSS.reg:

    [HKEY_LOCAL_MACHINE\SOFTWARE\CounterSoft\Gemini]

    "GeminiURL"=http://myserver/Gemini

    "GeminiSCPageURL"="sc/AddSCFile.aspx"

    Contents of ssaddin.ini:

    GeminiVSS.SourceSafe.1=1

    Any ideas?????

    Which version of Gemini are you running?

    The PageURL has changed to webservices/LinkSourceControlFile.aspx

    Gemini is version 2.0.2

    I tried modifying the Page URL but still nothing. We're all using the exact same versions of each file and software and on the same network.  On some machines it works and some not. I don't know what could be different about our settings.

    Thanks!

    With 2.0.2 you should use the old page url, it was changed in 2.1.

    Check that firewall or anti virus software is not blocking the DLL calls to Gemini.

    Re: Visual Source Safe Integration doesn't work.

    Okay, I've changed the file name back and ran it again.  I have Kaspersky anti-virus software but my security is pretty low.  I went in and turned off all configurable settings, also I turned off the Windows firewall. I don't think the issue would be the company's firewall because it works on other machines.

    Anyway I still haven't had any luck.  Is there anything else I can test to try to narrow down what the issue could be?

    Re: Visual Source Safe Integration doesn't work.

    We can build a "special" debug dll that will show some message boxes reporting the progress, it will allow us to see if the DLL is loaded and if so where it is going wrong.

    Let us know if you want it.

    Thanks, I got it working.  I did download a bebugging dll.  I found it on the thread http://community.countersoft.com/forums/thread/897.aspx

    The debugging dll indicated everything was connected fine, I unregistered it, and re-registered my original dll, and the file association works now.  No idea why. This process worked for all three of us who were having trouble.

    Glad everything is sorted now.

    Thanks for the update.
